Welcome
Here at MTE we strive to beat our own records and achieve goals that set the bar high for the transport industry.
On this page we will keep you up-to-date on our latest achievements and you can see for yourself the share power of our trailers and machines. We have been given many opportunities to test the limits of our trailers. We never back down from a challenge to prove our trailers are capable of moving anything. From moving large vessels to houses we have made trailers for almost everything.
This page gives you the low down on what’s been going on at the MTE Group. Come take a look and be amazed at the amazing feats that our trailers have achieved.
Our Latest Project
On Tuesday night the 15th of November 2011 MTE embarked on hauling a 650-tonne Yolla accommodation module from Down Northgate to Port Taraniki. The module cost 36 million dollars, weights 650 tonne, is 33m long, 19m tall, 13m wide and sleeps 40 people. The trailer made to make this manly feat has 304 wheels, 19 axels, is 38m long, 7m wide and cost 3 Million NZ dollars. The massive trailer is the BIGGEST trailer ever built in New Zealand. The trailer moved the module 12km with the help of at least 5 trucks, New Zealand weather did them no favours with plenty of rain and wind, but it didn't slow this trailer down. The weather didn't stop the people coming in hordes either, thousands of people showed up to watch history in the making. But with such a massive weight and size something had to go wrong, during the move the left hand side of the trailer came off the road and dropped into a gravel filled garden bed on the edge of Moturoa.
But workers were there and quickly fixed the trailer and it was back on its journey with little delay. The module will be shipped to an offshore oil platform in the Bass Strait where it will undergo another two months’ work before finally being attached to the platform ready for use. However the massive trailer has very little use now that the job is done and will probably be dismantled. Make sure you check out the gallery below of our trailer in action.
