MTE recently completed this 3 Axle House Trailer for McLeod Cranes & Hiabs, purpose-built to work specifically with their 10x4 Scania Hiab truck.
Unlike MTE’s E-Command house trailer range, this build uses a more traditional hydraulic command steer system, with all three axles individually steerable via remote control. The trailer was also designed with a shorter overall deck than our typical house trailer, creating a combination specifically suited to McLeod’s truck and operating requirements.

The trailer is powered by an onboard 18HP diesel hydraulic power unit, while a radio remote provides control over steering, suspension height and axle selection. Axle alignment sensors and a zero function assist the operator with returning the steering system to its road position.
It also features whisker sockets, extensive load restraint points, sliding front and rear chevrons, an extendable deck and container ship-lock provisions, giving McLeod’s additional versatility beyond its primary house-moving application.

Built Around the Combination
This project is a good example of MTE’s ability to adapt an established trailer concept around a specific prime mover and application.
By combining a shorter house trailer design with traditional hydraulic command steering, the finished trailer has been purpose-built to operate as a complete combination with McLeod’s 10x4 Scania Hiab, providing the manoeuvrability, lifting range and flexibility required for specialised transport work.
