MTE recently completed this heavy haulage combination for Stresscrete Heavy Haulage in Australia, comprising a 4 Rows of 8 Jinker and 3 Rows of 8 Beam Dolly.
Designed primarily around the transport of Super Tee and hollow-core precast concrete products, the two trailers can work together as part of a highly configurable heavy haulage combination. Both units incorporate widening capability, specialised bolster equipment and features designed specifically around Stresscrete’s precast transport operations.
MTE 4 Rows of 8 Jinker
The 4R8 Jinker is a highly specialised rear-steering unit, combining a 67,500kg GVW, hydraulic widening and 90-degree steering with a bolster cradle specifically designed for Super Tee and hollow-core concrete products.

90-Degree Hydraulic Steering
Manoeuvrability is critical when transporting long precast loads, particularly when negotiating construction sites and restricted accessways.
The Jinker features a double ball race capable of 90-degree steering, with four hydraulic steering rams controlling both the bogie and ball race.
A 16-function Lodar remote gives the operator remote control over steering, widening, drawbar height, engine start/stop and work lights.
Operator access has also been considered, with alloy tread plate platforms, removable safety railings, access steps and ladders incorporated around the bolster and widening system.
MTE 3 Rows of 8 Beam Dolly
Working alongside the Jinker is a 3 Rows of 8 Beam Dolly, built around a Swingwide-style widening system and hydraulic suspension.
Rated to 60,000kg GVMM, the Beam Dolly can widen from 2,498mm to 4,000mm, with intermediate locking widths of 3.1m, 3.5m and 3.75m.

Swingwide Widening
The Beam Dolly uses MTE’s Swingwide-style widening system, which allows the unit to widen from its 2.5m travelling width out to a maximum 4 metres.
Unlike a conventional parallel widening system, the Swingwide arrangement changes the forward length as the trailer widens, allowing the geometry of the unit to adapt as its width is adjusted.
Hydraulic ball suspension provides independent left and right raise/lower control, with load indication gauges fitted to both sides. All three axles can also be hydraulically retracted with lock-out taps to assist with maintenance.
Designed to Work with the 4R8 Jinker
A particularly useful feature of the Beam Dolly is that it has been designed around the accompanying 4R8 Jinker.
A dedicated cradle on the back of the gooseneck beams allows the 4R8 Jinker to be carried on the Beam Dolly, simplifying the movement of the equipment when the complete heavy haulage combination isn't required.
The Beam Dolly also incorporates a sliding fifth wheel with five locking positions, providing further adjustment to suit different configurations.
A rear Ringfeder, complete with air and electrical connections, provides additional flexibility when configuring the combination.
Specialised Precast Transport Equipment
Both units have been designed around Stresscrete’s precast operations, with Super Tee and hollow-core jaws incorporated into their respective bolster arrangements.
Together, the 4R8 Jinker and 3R8 Beam Dolly provide Stresscrete with a highly configurable heavy transport system capable of handling the unique dimensions and requirements associated with large precast concrete products.
