A look behind the scenes at this MTE 4 Rows of 8 Extendable Linkwing for DTMT in Western Australia, captured during hydraulic function testing at our workshop before the final paint touch-ups and finishing work were completed.
Purpose-built for Australian heavy haulage, this is a substantial Linkwing featuring a 110,000kg GVW, 4.5m extending deck and hydraulic widening from 2.7m out to 4.6m. Once testing and final finishing are complete, the trailer will be shipped to Fremantle to join the DTMT fleet.

Hydraulic Function Testing
These photos show the trailer during one of the important final stages of the build – hydraulic function testing.
Before final touch-up paint is applied, the MTE team runs the trailer through its hydraulic functions, checking the Linkwing widening system, 4.5m deck extension, hydraulic suspension, internal hydraulic gooseneck and loading ramps.
The main controls provide independent operation of the left and right suspension, front and rear widening, gooseneck and individual loading ramps. Load indication gauges are also fitted for the gooseneck and both sides of the suspension.
4.5m Extendable Linkwing
In addition to the Linkwing widening system, this build incorporates a 4.5m deck extension, giving DTMT considerably more flexibility when transporting long and oversized equipment.
The deck can also hydraulically widen from 2,700mm to an impressive 4,600mm, providing a substantial platform for wide machinery and other over-dimensional loads.
MTE hydraulic ball-type suspension allows the deck to lower from its normal 950mm ride height down to 820mm, helping manage overall loaded height when transporting larger equipment.
Built for Heavy Haulage
Heavy-duty 3,300mm × 1,050mm hydraulic ramps provide access to the deck, with pneumatic ramp chain tensioners and additional lay-flat positions at 30 and 45 degrees.
The trailer also incorporates extensive load restraint provisions, including Figure-8 lashings, crossmember lashings, heavy-duty chain lugs, recessed 6,000kg tiger hooks and pusher bar lugs. Ship-lock plates provide additional capability for transporting 20ft and 40ft containers.
Storage for the Long Haul
Storage has been well catered for, with eight integrated toolboxes featuring stainless-steel lids, along with four dedicated dunnage bins positioned around the spine and the wide 2.44m axle spacing.
Four spare wheels are also mounted horizontally on the neck, along with a dedicated water tank on the driver's side – practical additions for a trailer destined for heavy haulage work across Australia.
