MTE completed this 5 Axle Flat Top Low Loader Deck Widener for PTS Logistics, built as a versatile machinery transport platform with a strong focus on low deck height, widening capability, container transport and extensive onboard storage.
With a deck height of just 877mm, the trailer can widen hydraulically from 2,490mm to 3,100mm, providing PTS with additional flexibility when transporting wider machinery and equipment while keeping loaded height as low as possible.

Hydraulic Widening Deck
One of the key features of this build is the widening deck, allowing the trailer to expand from a road-going width of 2,490mm out to 3,100mm.
Combined with the low 877mm deck height, this gives PTS a practical platform for transporting larger earthmoving and construction machinery where both width and overall loaded height need to be considered.
Widening controls are positioned between the rear ramps, allowing the left and right sides to be operated independently during setup.
Custom PTS Loading Ramps
At the rear are a pair of custom PTS 2,700mm × 1,000mm hydraulic loading ramps.
The ramps feature cleats across the outer two-thirds for traction, with expanded mesh across the remaining inner section. Custom stainless PTS signage is incorporated into the backs of the ramps, along with lighting, sliding chevrons and oversize signage.
Hydraulic power is provided by a 12V onboard power pack mounted within the chassis, with charging supplied from the truck.
Container Transport Capability
The trailer has also been configured to provide plenty of versatility outside of machinery transport.
Integrated ship-lock pockets allow it to carry:
- 2 × 20ft containers
- 1 × loaded 20ft container
- 1 × 40ft container
A folding container post is incorporated into the beavertail, with extensions allowing it to reach top-deck height depending on the container configuration. Six double-ended ship locks are also supplied with dedicated storage beneath the trailer.
Extensive Load Restraint & Storage
Load restraint has been incorporated throughout the trailer, with rope rails along the widening decks, 26 chain slots behind the droppers, full-length deck chain slots, ferry tie-down lugs and additional chain lugs incorporated into the rear bumper.
Storage is another standout feature of the build.
The trailer incorporates two 1,200mm stainless toolboxes, two 900mm stainless toolboxes, a chain bin in the beavertail and six additional open chain bins built directly into the decks.
A further 2,400mm dunnage storage compartment is positioned behind the rear axle, with stainless-steel access doors on both sides.
Built in PTS Colours
The finished trailer carries PTS's distinctive fleet colours, with the deck and chassis finished in PTS Orange, while the coaming rails, bumper and ramps are finished in PTS White. Yellow ferry hooks provide additional visual identification of the dedicated restraint points.
Custom PTS stainless signage is also incorporated into the rear ramps, completing the distinctive look of the finished trailer.
