3R8 Linkwing

MTE recently completed this 3 Rows of 8 Linkwing for CablePrice, built as a high-capacity heavy machinery transporter for moving some of the largest equipment in their range.

These photos were taken a couple of months after the trailer entered service, when it returned to our yard to collect a new Hitachi ZAXIS 400 excavator – a fitting load to showcase what the 3R8 Linkwing was built to do.

With an 85,000kg GVM, 3.7m widening deck, hydraulic suspension and hydraulic compensating gooseneck, the trailer provides CablePrice with a highly capable platform for transporting large construction and earthmoving machinery.

Hydraulic Linkwing Capability

The Linkwing design allows the deck to hydraulically widen from 2.5m to 3.7m, providing the additional deck width required for large tracked machinery and other oversized equipment.

Hydraulic suspension provides further flexibility, allowing the deck to operate between 820mm lowered and 1,060mm raised, while the hydraulic internal compensating gooseneck provides additional control over the front of the trailer.  

Built for Large Machinery

Load restraint is extensive, with Figure 8 deck lashings, cross-member lashing rings, 16mm chain lugs and ship-lock provisions for a 20ft container. Stainless-steel coaming protectors are fitted above the outer cross-member lashings to protect high-use areas of the trailer.

Three open chain bins, two lockable stainless-lid toolboxes and dedicated dunnage trays provide storage for the equipment required for day-to-day heavy haulage operations.

Out on the Job

Rather than photographing this trailer fresh out of the workshop, these photos show it after a couple of months on the road and doing exactly what it was designed for.

Back at MTE to collect a new Hitachi ZAXIS 400 excavator, the combination is a great example of the 3R8 Linkwing in a real-world heavy machinery transport application.

Finished in CablePrice's custom charcoal, the trailer combines an 85-tonne GVM, 3.7m widening deck, hydraulic suspension and compensating gooseneck into a purpose-built heavy haulage package.
